With Twitter becoming a social force, it’s easier for artists to get the word out about new music. Time and time again we have seen that a strong presence surrounding an album on Twitter, does not always equate to sales. Alicia Keys seems to be taking a different approach with her upcoming album ‘Girl On Fire’. She will take fans on a guided tour of her album through Google+Hangout a week before its release. We will see how this marketing strategy drives sales.
The Grammy-winning singer and songwriter said those who tune in will “hear all the songs on the record [and] I’ll be able to share my creative process and also tell you some of the very special and important meanings behind some of the songs…. I can’t wait to bring my fans from all around the world into my studio,” she said in announcing the session on YouTube.
The Google+ Hangout, which will start Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 4 p.m. Pacific time and 7 p.m. Eastern time, also is slated to include a Q&A session with fans. “I’m working on some really special surprises that I think will be a lot of fun,” Keys added.
