Wrap-Up: This Weekend In Review (feat Rick Ross & G.O.O.D. Music)

Headline: “God Forgives, I Don’t” Goes Gold
What Happened: On July 31st, Rick Ross dropped his 4th studio album. This week “GFID” gets gold certification. I am sure Ross’ heavy twitter presence has something to do with this achievement. He also worked three different videos “Presidential”, “911″ and “Amsterdam”. Congrats to the entire MMG/Warner team.

Headline: “Wiz Khalifa Covers Complex Magazine”
What Happened: Wiz Khalifa sits down with Complex to discuss new album. After receiving mixed reviews about his album cover, Wiz talks about how his music will speak for itself. He has seen success with album sales and merchandise previously but is Atlantic Records in full support?

Headline: “@TheWeekndXO Signs With Universal Republic”
What Happened: Toronto continues to make a splash in the industry. R&B crooner lands a deal with a major label. The Weeknd plans to drop the “Trilogy” on November 13th. The project features mixed and masterded versions of songs from his popular mixtapes, “House Of Ballons“, “Thursday” and “Echoes Of Silence” The first single from the project is entitled “Wicked Games”

Headline: “Cruel Summer” Leaks
What Happened: Generally after album snippets are released, the entire project leaks. “Cruel Summer” was no exception to the rule. Kanye has been apart of a successful album launch with no leaks (Watch The Throne) but what happened this time around? It seems like a leaked album is the new way to have a listening session in 2012. Why does this keep happening to artists? Does it hurt or help? In the meantime check out the album snippets here. “Cruel Summer” available everywhere this Tuesday.

Headline: Apple Reveals iPhone 5″
What Happened: The late Steve Jobs continues to revolutionize the world. The latest installment in the iPhone series had the internet going crazy. New features include an all new design, ultra fast wireless with the LTE technology, bigger screen, and powerful A6 chip. Apple, if your reading this post, don’t be afraid to send one this way. Thanks in advance.
