AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group) isn’t the biggest promoting company in the world but it sure is a strong number 2. It controls parts of the LA Lakers and LA Kings, owns the Staples Center, runss the Coachella Music Festival and has signed some of the biggest names in music to touring deals. It has been a consistent threat the king of promotions, Live Nation, but that may no longer be the case. AEG is up for sale and depending on who the buyer is, things could look a lot different in the entertainment world. Potential buyers include Live Nation, Universal, Warner, and some filthy rich individuals, like Patrick Soon-Shiong and Robert Sillerman. Nobody knows quite yet where this is going to go but the fact is that things are about to change. Stay tuned.
