Mediabase Monday: Reporting for 8/13/12 by @DaveHouseWHW

Urban

#1 Record 2 Chainz “No Lie” is the #1 Record in the country on Urban for Album release week.

Projection: Wale “Bag of Money” is less than 20 spins away & can be #1 in less than 24 hours.

Future “Turn On the Lights” is the most played record this week on Urban at over 450 weekly spins, jumped to #9

Projection: “Turn On the Lights” has zipped past Keyshia Cole “Enough of No Love” & Miguel “Adorn”. Keyshia is ahead of Miguel as far as ranking, but Miguel is ahead of Keyshia as far as weekly spins that will affect her chart position

Lil Wayne “My Homies”, J. Cole “Nobody’s Perfect”, & Wiz Khalifa “Work Hard, Play Hard”, Trey Songz “Heart Attack” are all dying a BDS’s death on Urban

Projection: these records will be replaced by Keyshia Cole, Miguel, & Brandy “Put it Down” inside the top 10. Keyshia has to gain more weekly spins to compete for top 5 ranking on Urban.

Rick Ross “Touch N’ You” is dying a BDS’s death dropping down 3 spaces to #16 on Urban this week.

Projection: this is the Worst urban radio campaign for Rick Ross for his own album project, he gave #1 records & top 10 rankings to everyone else but himself, He is getting burnt in many markets.

Outside the Urban top 30, Trey Songs “Dive In”, 2 Chainz “Birthday Song”, & Kelly Rowland “Ice” are all in the lead for new records to break out of mixshow and into rotation.

Projection: Heart Attack spins are being replaced by “Dive In” spins, The Dream “Dope Chick” is dying, Bobby V “Mirror” is dead, & Frank Ocean “Think About You” has about 10 markets that needs to come back with better call out before the record is taken out of the selector

Outside the top 50, Big Homey 50 Cent “New Day” sounded great at the Elle Varner show in New York last week. Jacob Lattimore “You Come First” looks good over 115 spins last week & Aaliyah/Drake “Enough Said” gained over 130 spins on its debut week on Urban radio

“New Day” gained 125 spins on the Crossover stations

“Enough Said” gained 150 spins on the Crossover stations

Rhythmic

Most played record on Crossover is Elle Goulding “Lights”, which is also the only record that is hot on the Top 40 chart

Projection: “Lights” & Nicki Minaj “Pound the Alarm” jumped over Beiber “As Long as You Love Me” record on the chart with Beiber ranking at #15 this week. This isn’t a good sign for Beiber on his 2nd attempt for a #1 record on any chart.

Ne Yo “Let Me Love You” is gained over 300 spins last week on Cross Over

Projection: Hottest records on Crossover is the Flo Rida “Whistle” & Ne Yo’s record, “Whistle is ranked at #9 & Ne Yo moved up to #38 this week.

Urban AC

The Legendary Anita Baker has the HOTTEST record on the Urban AC chart debuting “Lately” at #10 this week gained over 950 spins.

Projection: this record is bound to be #1 replacing R. Kelly “Feelin’ Single” which is 15 spins away from the current #1 record

The lovely Tamia “Beautiful Surprise” continues to maintain a presence inside the top 10 on Urban AC at over 200 spins per week

On top 40, Outside of the Elle Goulding “Lights” there is NO chart excitement on the entire panel.
