There have been a lot of announcements building up in    anticipation of Record Store Day 2012 (set your calendars for    April 21 this year) but the largest one of them all dropped    today in the form of the official list of every Record Store    Day release. And it is extensive.   Â
Luckily, the     RSD    website has a pretty handy drop-down menu that makes the    viewing process a whole lot easier, but there are a bunch of    bands either dropping full-length albums, vinyl re-issues,    collaborations, live albums, unreleased tracks, and an entire    spectrum of collectible artwork and album covers to mark the    occasion.

Some of the big names on the list are the Arcade Fire with a    “Sprawl II” remix, Animal Collective’s ambitious audio project     Transverse Temporal Gyrus, the     Flaming    Lips’ collaborations albumThe Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends with Bon Iver, Ke$ha    and Neon Indian (to name a few), and Phish, Lou Reed, and Paul    Simon album re-releases.   Â
Recent     Billboard    cover stars fun. are going to be celebrating RSD by    releasing a 3-song acoustic 10″ record that includes their huge    track “We Are Young” (featuring Janelle Monae) and performing    an in-store show at Newbury Comics in Boston ahead of their    sold out show at the House of Blues that night.

The list is so extensive that there’s really something for everyone, a big coup for the fifth anniversary of the event. The list is divided into exclusive releases, limited    run/regional releases, and “Record Store Day First” releases,    and you can download a .pdf of everything from the site as well.
