Bobby Robinson, the man responsible for releasing early singles for Spoonie Gee, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five and The Fearless Four among others, passed away at the age of 93. He leaves a legacy of hits such as The Furious Five’s “Superrappin’,” The Fearless Four’s “”Rockin’ It” and The Treacherous Three’s “Feel The Heartbeat” to name a few.
If you’re not familiar with the man, Bobby Robinson, and the history of Enjoy Records, please make it a point to. This man serves as an inspiration to anyone who’s pursuing their dream as there is no age too “old” to make an impact. Mr. Robinson was making his presence felt in his early 60s and should serve as testimony to an artform that has become entirely too age conscious. If it wasn’t for pioneers like this, Hip Hop wouldn’t have gotten the push that it did at a time when the genre wasn’t even considered as much and could have easily been passed off as just another fad.
So, much respect to Mr. Bobby Robinson and his lasting impact on Hip Hop. Thank you and GOD BLESS
Thanks to HipHopDX for the article and info as well.
