  4. Impulse says:

Most improved artist.. in terms of relevance is definitely the PLK Lloyd Banks. He propelled himself back into the game by dropping consistently good mixtapes and ended the year with a solid album. Sales at this point is irrelevant, considering his label (EMI) really didn’t do any major promotions. But the relationships he built with the other artists & camps he collaborated with, not to mention a tremendous co-sign by Kanye West, will help propell his career next year to new heights. I won’t be surprised if we get another album in 2011, maybe even on a major this time.

  5. marcell says:

lloyd banks deserves to win because he had a great year in music and he was able to not get overshadowed by 50 cent

  6. RayB says:

    Lloyd Banks for sure.

  7. Wiz Khalifa

I gotta give the most improved artist award to Wiz Khalifa. Wiz is a strong example of what the independent grind is all about. If you perfect your craft, work hard, and stay on your grind, the rewards will show. He’s has spread his hustle to more than music. The Taylor Gang clothing is moving, and his new line of glasses are a must have. His Independent entrepreneur spirit has taken him from 0-5 as an independent to a major deal, where the powers that be will get him from 6-10.

The man went from being underground like an Oiler, to XXL Freshmen, to being The Source Rookie of The Year in 2010. That’s huge! The mix tape Kush & OJ is what did it for me. The concept stayed true to the title of the project, the skits are comedy, his beat selection was on point, and his lyrics and tone topped it off smoothly. That Kush & OJ mix tape opened closed doors for Wiz Khalifa. Drake and Rick Ross, two artists on top of their game right now, extended an offer to have the man jump on their tours, but Wiz being confident in his craft respectfully declined. To me that show that he has chosen to play this game by his rules, and because he has chosen to play by his own rules no one can take credit at this point for how high this man’s star has risen or will rise.

  8. Most Improved Artist of the Year? I’d have to say Lloyd Banks. He had a few mixtapes in ’09, but no official singles or anything. Then in 2010 when ‘Beamer, Benz, or Bentley’ dropped… You could tell that he was gonna make a huge comeback! Although his new album “Hunger For More 2″ didn’t sell very well, I consider it Hip-Hop album of the year over Kanye West’s “My Dark Twisted Fantasy” anyday.

  11. The Editor says:

The most improved could be a number of people, but people that are better than they were before this year, it would be Em, his music is better, his rhymes are better, as an artist, he is better

  12. mpella says:

llyod banks hands down better lyrics then ross, wiz, joe budden

Based on the criteria (quite or just plain wack last year) I have to agree with Riggs Morales and say Lloyd Bank$ The P.L.K. He was pretty much written off after he got dropped from Interscope then he dropped 5 mixtapes and put out 2 hits. His album didnt do crazy numbers but they were no bad for an indie, I think around 60-70k or something. And Bank$ has stated that he will start dropping 1 album every year, so if he holds true to that it will be a complete turn around.

  18. Jiminy Browne says:

Lloyd Banks, just from being a rookie to an all-star as that last dude said is the reason why.

  19. Turry says:

    Lloyd Banks, easy.

Was unheard of in 2009 then makes consistent noise in 2010.

    Kanye does wonders.

  20. KC says:

The most improved artist HAS to be Lloyd Banks. His grind was like no other this year. Interscope dropped him and he shrugged it off and said, “Oh well! I’m gonna make something out of this.” And he did! From “Beamer, Benz, and Bentley” to “Start it Up,” his hustle was phenomenal. To top everything off, Hunger For More 2 was what all Banks fans expected.

  21. alan says:

It has to be Lloyd Banks his grind this year was unstoppable ,he release beamer, benz or bently independent an it went to sale over 600,000. All the other people you mention are on major label expect for Banks nd joe. That means they have to work hard than others lets be honest. Banks album can even be album of year that was the best rap album in long time wasnt no pop rap just straight rap. You have to like that he didnt sale out making pops songs nd doing what everybody else doing. He kept real on H.F.M 2, the music that out today make his album a classic.

  22. Lloyd Banks for sure, cause for a while his Flows n Lyrics werent as hot as they used to be…. but he def stepped his game up in the last couple years….. and has had more success releasing singles then 50cent even as of recent

  23. Chris Moss says:

I gotta go with Banks, too! I mean, this cat (along with a lot G-Unit for that matter) was sliding off into obscurity. Banks came back with a legit product that is selling INDEPENDENTLY! I mean, Pusha hasn’t been selling since the first Clipse album (which is a shame because he is one of the best MCs in Hip Hop…period); let’s see if Wiz can put together a whole album and not just a single and a strong tour; Ross STILL needs to step up the content a lot; Em had one Relapse (pardon the pun) but has continued to be extremely relevant; and Kanye is arguably the biggest name still in Hip Hop. So, gotta give it to Banks because he had the singles, the sales and the stamina to maintain and win in 2010. Next year: I’d love to give it to Pusha T with an assist from Kanye,

believe it or not i agree with them all its just im more to agreeing that the P.L.K. Lloyd Banks is most improved in the game right now. ive always been a g unit fan since day one reason being i love mixtapes, mixtape monsters, g unit. i wasnt a Lloyd Banks fan from the start but i heard him and it wasnt untill his return the start of the P.L.K series and banks has become my favorite rapper from the full body of work he’s given away for free. singing great hook of his own, putting together the clever punchlines, the murdering of artist on there paid for quality beats and this is just all on mixtapes. waiting on an album with lloyd banks was fun really interesting because you could never predict what you were going to here next from my guy song after song he gave his all switching up flows, beats, features to genre while all the other artist where and are complaining about what of theirs is not getting the attention it deserves banks was putting is stamp on everything knowing eventually something of his was going to get him a new fan and if there is anyone that says banks aint’ the one, he don’t know nothing LLOYD BANKS MOS IMPROVED MC. On another note he built himself all way back to the top with out his sidekick super star 50 cent

  27. Justin Brown says:

It’s VERY clear that Lloyd Banks is the Most Improved Rapper of 2010. He went from a couple decent mixtapes in 2009 to GOLD singles in 2010. A fix of a label situation and HFM2 killed the streets. In a close second though is Pusha T with help from KanYe. They’re both going to go crazy in 2011.

  28. Pulsar Ent. says:

Most improved has to be Lloyd Banks

  29. Jose Roman says:

    Wiz Khalifa

jus listen to his mixtapes like kush&oj or b.a.r

  30. Mr. Busby says:

Most Improved Artist of 2010? Hmm If I have to choose, I would have to go with Lloyd Banks. Dude came out of NO WHERE with Beamer Beans & Bentley. Hunger For More was a good album where he want back to his roots with the first HFM. Every collab he has been on he has ripped it, with the exception of Remember The Titans where Royce RIPPED it. But Banks held his own this year and I can’t deny that..
